There are many conditions that involve pain of various degrees in multiple areas. People suffering from a chronic pain disorder experience a higher level of sensitivity. They feel things diffrently and their nervous system responds to touch or temperature changes with a much stronger pain sensation. Scientists grapple with their understanding of the pain mechanism, and its unclear why some people respond differently to stimulus than others.

Patients are given pharmaceutical pain relievers, antidepressants and other medicines to try and mitigate the acute neurological response and control the pain. Often these solutions are not effective in the long term and the medication side effects are not well tolerated.

Chinese Medicine has good results treating pain, utilizing time tested methods. Acupuncture has been shown to relieve pain effectively. The practitioner has to be very careful and treat pain disorders with the utmost care, allowing the body to get used to the new stimulus gradually in order for the patient to gain maximum benefit from the treatment. I often start slow, using fine needles, and work up to a full treatment over time. I take great care and use plenty of moxibustion, warming the body with it to increase circulation and reduce pain and inflammation.

Herbal Medicine is very effective for pain, and various remedies are used to treat disorders that involve pain in the body. In most cases of chronic pain disorders, regular treatments help keep the pain in check and strengthen the nervous and immune systems. Patients find they have more energy and less pain. Unlike acute pain conditions, which come on fast through an injury, overuse or strain and improve in 4-6 treatments, Chronic pain can last years and progress can be slow. Over time shifts are made and sustained. Less to no pain, increased functionality and improved outlook and mood. Chinese Medicine is one of the best things to manage and assist pain.
